Regulations Governing Student Exemption from Studying Certain Courses at the College of Engineering and Information Technology
In accordance with Article (27) of the Study and Examinations Regulations and its Executive Rules at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, exemptions shall not exceed 25% of the student’s academic study plan.
First: Exemption from Certain Courses
  • Students who hold internationally/global, internationally recognized, or locally accredited professional certifications issued by competent authorities—provided that such certifications require a proctored (in-person) examination as a condition for obtaining them—and whose content is equivalent to courses offered within academic programs, may be exempted in accordance with Article (27) of the Executive Rules of the Study and Examinations Regulations for Onaizah Colleges (2022). This shall be based on an approved equivalency list aligning professional certifications with academic program courses. The relevant academic department shall review the list, recommend its approval, and submit it to the College Council for final approval.
  • Students may be exempted from courses that they have completed outside the Colleges, provided that the academic content is equivalent to courses offered within the Colleges, even if there is a difference in the number of credit hours.
  • Students with relevant practical experience may be exempted from certain courses in accordance with Article (27) of the Executive Rules of the Study and Examinations Regulations for Onaizah Colleges (2022), after successfully passing an examination prepared by the concerned academic department. This is conditional upon the student possessing officially certified professional experience from their employer in the same field, with a minimum duration of two years.

Third: Procedures for Exempting a Student from Studying a Course
  • The student submits an exemption request to Student Affairs and fills out the designated exemption request form.
  • The student attaches a copy of an English language test certificate, a professional certificate, or documented practical experience (original and a copy), along with a copy of the certificate of employment periods and wages from Social Insurance, in addition to a copy of the national ID card or passport.
  • After verifying the authenticity of the attached certificates, the request is forwarded to the relevant academic department.
  • The submitted certificates are reviewed by the specialized academic committee of the department referred to in Clause Two. The committee then submits its report to the Department Council with a recommendation for approval, after which it is forwarded for approval by the College Council. The student is informed of the result immediately after approval, within a period not exceeding two weeks from the date the request is approved.
  • If the student has registered for the course in question, they must continue attending lectures until they are officially notified whether the exemption has been granted or not.
