The significance of the Psychology Laboratory lies in its role in advancing the understanding of human behavior, mental processes, development, and personality disorders. It also plays a key role in training students in the scientific methodology used in psychological research and in highlighting the laboratory’s contribution to scientific inquiry and community service.
The laboratory was established with the aim of providing services related to psychological and educational assessment and evaluation for psychology students and professionals in the psychological field.
The lab offers a practical environment where students can apply the theoretical concepts they study in psychology and connect them with real-world practice. Through laboratory experiments, students gain an understanding of how psychological research is conducted and how to interpret and evaluate findings.
The Department of Psychology seeks to provide psychometric tools to assess quality of life and other related or influencing psychological variables, whether positively or negatively. This is pursued through the specialization in measurement and evaluation, guided by the most advanced and rigorous theories in the field. The department also studies these variables and offers counseling and therapeutic programs through the psychology specialization. Additionally, it aims to enhance the quality of learning and teaching among students at Unaizah Colleges by examining learning issues, theories, styles, and influencing factors such as intelligence, thinking, mental processes, learning strategies, memory techniques, and more.
This laboratory was established at the College of Humanities and Administrative Studies during the academic year 1446 AH / 2025 AD, with the aim of:
First: Training undergraduate students enrolled in the Psychology Department on scientific laboratory experimentation and its applications in the field of psychology through conducting experiments on various psychological phenomena and related topics.
Second: Training students at different academic levels within the college on test design, particularly educational and achievement tests.
Third: Training students in the administration of psychological tests, especially those related to intelligence, cognitive abilities, skills, academic achievement, personality traits, interests, and attitudes.
Fourth: Conducting experimental research in various branches of psychology and standardizing psychological tests.
The laboratory is equipped with a wide range of modern instruments, tools, and technologies designed to study human behavior, learning, and perception from multiple perspectives. It comprises several specialized testing units, including:
Laboratory for Experimental Studies in Educational Psychology: This unit includes advanced devices and tools for studying human behavior, learning, and perception. It is equipped with apparatuses for investigating psychological phenomena such as reaction time, attention, learning, perception, thinking, and problem-solving behavior. It also contains anatomical models for studying human body systems including the muscular, circulatory, endocrine systems, and the sensory organs, along with materials relevant to human genetics and biochemistry.
Psychological Testing Laboratory: This lab houses psychological and educational assessment tools, including standardized instruments for measuring intelligence, cognitive and motor skills, personality traits, interests, attitudes, values, and other psychological constructs.
Neuropsychology Laboratory: Equipped with a variety of devices, tools, and anatomical models specifically designed for the study of the nervous system.
Permanent Exhibition of Physiological and Experimental Psychology Instruments: This exhibition displays a range of historical and contemporary devices used in the study of behavior, perception, sensory processing, memory, and recall.
